My 40th birthday present to myself - my first ever brand new bike.

A few things had to be changed fairly quickly, the number plate was far to big and was replaced with a much neater (if slightly illegal) one. Fitting of the new plate higher up also shows of more tyre at the back. The tank was asking to be scratched by my clothing so a tank-protector was required. Having seen some nice carbon-fibre ones I put one on order, only then to be told that they don't do them for the Fazer yet (well why advertise that you do!) so a small temporary sticker type is being used until I can get a carbon one. The tax-disc holder was a car type fitted inside the fairing screen and had to go (before someone helped themselves). An anodised alloy one was called for but what colour? Initially I was going to use purple highlights, but then thought of the blue anodised calliper plugs, so blue was the way to go. This will gradually appear in more and more places, but so far it's but the tax-disc holder and the bolts round the fuel filler.

Got 5 hours to spare, what shall I do? I know, I'll take the wheels off and crouch down in the workshop with tyrewall paint and a white tyre stick to letter the tyres. Sad bastard! Does look good though, especially with the black wheels. What's next then? Well an after-market end-can is definately the order of the day, why they have to comply to 85dB is beyond me - 'Loud Pipes Save Lives'. It was from ART and was be fitted fairly soon after.

Anyway, cosmetics aside, what was it like to ride? Brilliant, well after the first 600 miles up to it's first service. Having now completed this stage, it is rather nice (to say the least) to be able to use it to it's full potential. It is probably the best all-round bike I have had during the last 24 years. I have ridden faster (ZZR1100 & Thunderace) but as a package I think it works perfectly. As time goes on, I shall be putting more about it on this site so keep coming back. Last 2 pictures show the most recent addition - a chrome radiator cover supplied by M & P.
